Concept:

This work explores the act of "translating" Shakespeare’s poetry into a different medium: theater. Translation here is not understood as a literal substitution of words, but as a creative act of interpretation—one that draws meaning through cultural and contextual engagement. The play reflects the structure and rhythm of the original sonnets not only through its text, but also in its narrative design and musical composition.

Informed by the ideas of translator Kenichi Yoshida, the piece weaves in themes of time and memory, while also incorporating references to Romeo and Juliet, Twelfth Night, Hamlet, and The Tempest, embedding Shakespeare’s literary trajectory into the dramaturgy itself. In this way, the entire work becomes an extended attempt at translation—across language, form, and history.
